Contrary to speculation that Kalabo Town Council has secured land for the construction of a toll gate, the Local Authority wishes to clarify that the land has been secured for the construction of a barrier gate to be used as a revenue collection point.
This strategic development will enable Kalabo Town Council to effectively collect much-needed revenue from Cattle farmers, Fish levy, Rice levy, Bus and Taxi levies and many more within Kalabo District going out of the District.
The land was secured from Mwandi Kuta, and a delegation led by Princess Mukwae Kufuna, comprising Indunas from her Kuta, Area Induna Simioti, Area Councillors for Ndoka and Mapungu, and Kalabo Town Council officers, visited the site at Nan’gumba to appreciate and inspect the area.
Soon, the Local Authority will construct a barrier gate at the site, along with a shelter and sanitary facilities for staff.
