WESTERN WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION COMPANY HOLDS A STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT MEETING IN KALABO DISTRICT.

Western Water Supply and Sanitation Company today held a stakeholders engagement Meeting in the Council Chamber, Civic Center in Kalabo District.

The meeting was officially opened by Kalabo Town Council Chairperson Mr. David Nyundu.
A number of stakeholders in the district turn to submit their concerns to the water supply Company.

Western Water Supply and Sanitation Company Managing Director Dr. Eng. Mufalo Kabika highlighted key operational challenges that the Company was facing in the provision of services that included:
1. Old and dilapidated infrastructure,
2.Season changes in the colour of water due to turbidity caused by the rain season.

3. Cost operational challenges
4. Unstable supply of Zesco power to meet the required voltage for the treatment plant.

5. Huge arrears amounting to K1.1 million Kwacha and many others.

Eng. Dr. Mufalo has since appealed to residents of Kalabo to pay for the arrears owed to the water utility Company for effective service delivery. The Company further appealed to the CDF Committees in Liuwa and Kalabo Central Constituencies to consider apportioning funds for the construction of the new water treatment plant in order to replace the old dilapidated infrastructure. He said the Company was looking for two milliion nine hundred Kwacha (K2, 900,000) to sort out water challenges in the short term plan.

Various Concerns were submitted to the water utility company that included among others;

1. Poor water supply,
2. Power workmanship by the staff
3. Dilapidated infrastructure connected to the homes.
The stakeholders have since appealed for construction of boreholes and water kiosks in the District.
