KALABO DISTRICT REVAMPS HIV/AIDS COMMITTEE TO STRENGTHEN LOCAL RESPONSE

17th March, 2026. Kalabo Town Council convened a District HIV/AIDS Committee Meeting aimed at revitalizing the committee, which has been inactive for some time due to a number of challenges.

The meeting, held at the District Health Office, was chaired by the District Administrative Officer, Mrs. Annie Muyunda, who emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among district stakeholders in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Committee resolved, among other matters, to:

  1. Establish standard structures for District HIV/AIDS Committees.
  2. Strengthen the generation and submission of district reports to ensure key stakeholders remain informed and engaged.
  3. Develop a District Action Plan to support the enforcement and monitoring of HIV/AIDS-related interventions.
  4. Forge stronger stakeholder partnerships to ensure sustained funding and support for HIV/AIDS programmes and related services in the district.

Acting District AIDS Coordinating Advisor, Mr. Silenga Silenga, appealed for collaborative and continuous efforts to ensure the committee remains active and effective for the benefit of the district.
