Kalabo Town Council today joined the rest of the country in commemorating the 2026 World Health Day, held under the theme “Together for Quality Health: Informed by Science.” The event took place at Tapo Tollgate in Kalabo District and attracted members of the public from surrounding communities.
The commemoration aimed at promoting public awareness on the importance of quality health care services grounded in scientific evidence and encouraging residents to utilise available health services.
During the event, a wide range of health services were provided free of charge to the general public. These included cervical cancer screening, voluntary male medical circumcision, HIV services, outpatient services, eye services, dental services, physiotherapy, family planning and contraceptive services, child health services, environmental health services, and general health information.
Speaking during the event, the Director of Health Services, Mr. Maabo Nyanga, encouraged residents of Kalabo District to seek medical services from their nearest clinics and health centres without hesitation. He emphasized that modern healthcare services are scientifically proven and effective, and urged the public to have confidence in health interventions offered by trained professionals.
The World Health Day commemoration provided an important platform for the Council and health partners to engage the community and reinforce the message that access to quality health services is essential for the well‑being and development of the district.
