KALABO TOWN COUNCIL HOSTS PUBLIC DEBATE TO RAISE AWARENESS ON CONSTITUENCY DEVELOPMENT FUND

In an effort to enhance public awareness and promote understanding of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Kalabo Town Council today hosted a public debate focused on information dissemination and citizen engagement.

The debate, held under the theme “CDF: The Game Changer for Kalabo Town,” featured participants from Kalabo Boarding Secondary School and Nalionwa Day Secondary School. The event took place at Kashitu Market, attracting a large audience and drawing significant attention from the public, effectively bringing activities at the market to a standstill.

In a highly engaging and intellectually stimulating contest, Nalionwa Day Secondary School emerged victorious, defeating Kalabo Boarding Secondary School by a margin of 17 points.

Speaking during the official opening, Kalabo Town Council Secretary, Mr. Alisinda Nawa, emphasized the importance of an informed citizenry in accessing public services. He encouraged residents to actively seek information on the Constituency Development Fund.

Mr. Nawa stated that citizens are free to visit the Civic Centre to access information related to the CDF, adding that the Council has adopted an open-door policy. This approach allows members of the public to engage with Council officials, inquire about ongoing projects, and understand how they can benefit from various CDF components such as grants, loans, and skills development programmes.

The debate forms part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to ensure that communities are well-informed and empowered to fully utilize opportunities provided under the Constituency Development Fund.
