DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS: KALABO BOARDING SECONDARY SCHOOL RAISES FUNDS FOR SCHOOL WALL FENCE

Kalabo Boarding Secondary School last night held a fundraising gala dinner to raise funds for the construction of the School wall fence.

The event also marked 60 year’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the School’s existence since it’s Opening in 1966.

School Head Teacher Mrs. Jean Jean Masaku explained that the funderising dinner was aimed at raising funds to complete the construction of the School wall fence that had remained uncompleted for a long period of time. She raised concern that because of the incomplete wall fence, pupils in boarding facilities were free to move to nearby Communities to engage in illicit activities such as beer drinking and abuse of drugs.

This social event was held at Kalabo Trades Trades Training Institute and attracted former learners dating as far back as 1966 when the School was officially opened. Others included Teachers, residents of Kalabo District, Senior leaders of the District and Senior Citizens among others.

And Speaking as guest of honor, Kalabo Town Council Secretary Mr. Alisinda Nawa appealed to the School Alumini, Residents of Kalabo District, the business Community and well wishers to consider ploughing back to the School to fund various infrastructure projects among them, the wall fence that was earmarked to be opened.
Mr. Nawa said the School had produced notable figures in the Community and the Nation at large who are contributing significantly to the development of the Nation, hence the School’s status, integrity and its enduring legacy must be protected.

Various pledges were made by individuals and Institutions to the tune of K26,000 and a total amount of K8, 700 was raised as cash.
